Community Connections is a ministry of Providence Newberg Medical Center, supported by the Faith in Action coalition, aimed at creating healthier communities by engaging volunteers. Community Connections recruits, screens and trains volunteers to help address unmet health needs at the medical center and in the community.
In 2014, Providence Newberg Medical Center’s Volunteer Services and Faith in Action programs were combined in a strategic alliance of all volunteers serving through Providence Newberg. We named the new department “Community Connections” to reflect the full scope of this new endeavor. It reflects our strategic plan to “Create healthy communities, together.”
We serve patients at the medical center, older adults, children with special health needs, people with unmet health needs and the families who care for them. Our efforts are focused on communities in the Yamhill Co. and parts of Washington Co. service areas.
The Faith in Action coalition is an active member organization of community health partners working with PNMC to address identified health needs in our community. It’s now managed by Community Connections and continues to build on valued relationships with local faith communities, business and industry partners and service agencies to create a caring and collective impact on local health. Faith in Action’s collaborative volunteer services will continue or grow in scope under Community Connections.
Community Connections is a local program serving local people – and it requires local support. Gifts to Faith in Action funds at Providence Newberg Health Foundation will assure older adults, children with disabilities, people with unmet health needs and the families who care for them are well supported in our region.
