Providence Functional Neurosurgery Center
Providence Functional Neurosurgery Center, directed by Neurosurgeon, Dr. Seth Oliveria, is a collaborative team of experts comprised of movement disorder neurologists and epileptologists. They provide state-of-the-art surgical treatment and symptom management for epilepsy, Parkinson’s, essential tremor and dystonia.
Functional neurosurgery combines an ultra-precise targeting technique utilizing deep brain stimulation procedures to surgically address specific targets in the nervous system causing symptoms that are disruptive to a patient’s quality of life.
Conditions treated with functional neurosurgery require a multidisciplinary approach. The decision to pursue surgery is made jointly between the patient, their neurologist and their neurosurgeon when their condition does not consistently respond to medical therapy. We strive to actively communicate before and after surgery regarding patients’ individual needs and make it a priority to streamline the preoperative evaluation process. It is our goal to minimize perioperative stress, discomfort and to facilitate recovery after surgery.
For patients traveling a significant distance to Portland, our goal is to minimize their transportation burden. We can help direct local pre-surgical evaluations and coordinate appointments across disciplines when a visit to Portland is necessary.
