Providence Health & Services serves more than one million people throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington. We have a responsibility to care for people who come to us for services and also to seek out the unmet needs of people who lack basic essentials every day. Caring for the communities we serve lies at the heart of who we are.

As a not-for-profit health care system, Providence identifies the most pressing health needs of our communities, develops health improvement plans and supports health improvement initiatives.

When investing in our communities we must first know what affects health and then collaborate with others to make the biggest impact. We know that clinical care is only one contributing factor in people’s health; socioeconomic factors, the physical environment and health behaviors also play important roles in the health of our communities. Additionally, we know that we can‘t improve the health of our communities alone. Our partnerships with local organizations are critical to improving health and quality of life for the poor and vulnerable.
