Oncology social work

Also known as: Cancer social work, Social work, oncology, Social work, cancer

Oncology social workers assess the needs of cancer patients. They can facilitate communication with the health care team, provide emotional support and help with needs such as housing, transportation, medication assistance programs and filing disability claims.

When patients receive a diagnosis of cancer, they can experience a broad array of emotions, including disbelief, confusion, numbness, shock and denial.  Providence Cancer Support Services provides emotional and practical support to cancer patients and their families when they need it most.

Providence Cancer Support Services are provided at no charge to Providence cancer patients and their families.
