The right time is now, to start thinking about your heart.

Get on your feet and add years to your life! All you need is a goal, and we'll provide you with a plan and a whole lot of support. Join the Providence Heart to Start program and train to walk or run a 5K, 10K or half-marathon. Participate in person or virtually on Facebook.

Heart To Start is focused on making exercise enjoyable, achievable and inclusive.

The program is free and includes workout plans, heart-healthy resources and a supportive community – online and in-person.

It is always important to check with your healthcare provider to make sure you are healthy enough to participate.

Here's how to get started:

  1. Register for a Heart To Start program near you. You can participate in-person with the scheduled program or virtually through our Facebook page.
  2. Review the workout plans and see which distance is right for you. Consider training for a 5K if you are new to walking or running.
  3. Follow the Heart To Start Facebook page. Connect with other team members, share victories and challenges and find inspiration and motivation to achieve your goals.
  4. Sign up for a 5K that gives you enough time to train. Click here for a calendar of races in Oregon. www.racecenter.com/race-calendar. If you are local to a Heart To Start program, we encourage you to register for the race selected for that specific community. Details will be provided during the training season.
