Endoscopic mucosal resection
Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) is a specialized procedure performed by a skilled endoscopist that allows for removal of abnormal tissue in the lining of the gastrointestinal tract that might otherwise require surgery to remove. The procedure involves performing an endoscopy (either upper gastrointestinal endoscopy or colonoscopy) to gain access to the area of abnormality.
