Botox for spasticity

Spasticity is a disabling complication of stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury and some other conditions of the brain and spinal cord. Intramuscular injections of botulinum reduce spasticity and associated disability and often reduces pain associated with these conditions. Botulinum toxin is also used to treat symptoms of cervical dystonia and hemifacial spasm. Botox is actually one of several commercially available botulinum toxins used to treat spasticity and dystonia.
