After illness, injury or disability, people in our community turn to Providence Outpatient Neurological Therapy in Southern Oregon for help in regaining strength and independence. Last year, Providence Rehabilitation served more than 86,000 adults and children.

Our services include:

  • Driver assessment
  • Muscular Dystrophy Association Clinic
  • Pediatric speech-language pathology
  • The Gait/Amputee/Orthotics Clinic

As we age, driving can become more difficult – even scary. The Providence Driving Assessment can help determine if it is safe for someone to continue driving. An occupational therapist works with each client to determine driver safety. The assessment includes:

  • Review of the client’s driving history
  • Visual screening
  • Physical screening to measure range of motion, strength and coordination
  • Cognitive and perceptual screening
  • Evaluation of functional mobility

An on-the-road driving test is not part of the evaluation. This assessment measures a person’s ability to drive safely. It can ease concerns about drivers who experience health-related incidents or declining health but who wish to continue driving.

AARP driver safety program

The AARP Driver Safety Program at Providence Medford Medford Medical Center is a refresher course for drivers age 50 and older. Participants will learn about current rules of the road, how to operate a vehicle more safely and adjustments to common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time. Participants may qualify for auto insurance discounts upon completion of the course.

Also known as: Gait clinic, Amputee clinic, Orthotics clinic

The Gait/Amputee/Orthotics Clinic is a monthly clinic for clients with prosthetic or orthotic needs. A team of physical therapists, along with a certified prosthetist and prthotist work with patients to improve their mobility and coordination.

Muscular Dystrophy Association Clinic is held on the first Monday of each month in conjunction with the MDA. A team of therapists join with a physical medicine and rehab physician to offer free or low cost screenings to qualifying patients with neuromuscular disorders.
