Familial adenomatous polyposis

Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is a rare inherited cancer predisposition syndrome characterized by hundreds to thousands of precancerous colorectal polyps (adenomatous polyps). If the condition is left untreated, affected individuals inevitably develop cancer of the colon and/or rectum.
