Biography

Sheryl Williams believes that the best possible care begins with listening to patient's concerns. "Patients are in charge of their health," she says. "My role is to guide and help them make informed decisions, and to provide compassionate and thorough preventive care."

She enjoys having the opportunity to improve patients' lives in a variety of ways, whether encouraging healthy lifestyle changes, managing medications or helping navigate the health care system.

After receiving her bachelor's degree in physician assistant studies at Oregon Health & Science University, Sheryl earned her master's in physician assistant studies from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

In her free time she enjoys hiking with her husband and dog, cycling, traveling, knitting, reading, and spending time with family.

This was my first visit with Cheryl Williams. It felt more transactional than relationship-based. I had to leave my provider of 26 years when I switched insurance plans and I had an excellent relationship with her. I only recall Cheryl smiling and welcoming me to the practice when she was saying goodbye.

I had anti-biotics for this problem before, & she refused to give them to me. She gave me [...]. DIDN'T WORK I saw my regular dr. 2 or 3 days later. He gave me the med. I needed & problem solved.

[...] for mental health. Providers either don't or are not allowed to prescribe medication that would actually help. appointments are always rushed. Total care is not addressed.

Sheryl Williams was extremely helpful and caring and took the time to answer all of my questions thoroughly. We had a conversation via MyChart and she was equally caring through there as well. I really appreciated her medical expertise and compassion. She's a great provider.

Provider acted as if I was wasting her time. I felt like a nuisance. I was sicker than a dog for the next week with sinus and head cold. Which might not have been treatable. I would have appreciated some compassion for the ear and throat pain I experienced. I will have to be SERIOUSLY ill before I visit again.

Overall I had a good visit with that particular provider. Her calm demeaner, but mindful care helped me feel at ease.

I would not blame the provider. [...] there is a constant sense of urgency that the doctor push you along as quickly as possible to stay on the 20 minute per patient rule. the doctor spends more time on the computer typing than actually looking at the patient. [...] because my mother has Alzheimer's I act as her voice. I feel the doctor didn't have time to get to know us and our situation. [...]

Even though I was given a 40 min. appointment, at my request, she did not address all my noted needs. When I went and found her to ask about the lack of attention to my shoulder, she said she planned to address that "next time". I told her it was painful and I wanted something done "today". She then quickly examined it (rather painfully) and said she would add it to my order for X-ray. [...] It was my most painful need and would have gone unaddressed. She seemed distracted this time. I don't know what else had gone on during her day, but [...] I would appreciate attention and not being put-off.

I just never felt the provider took my concerns serious. She ordered x-rays which came back fine. So what is my next step? I still have a problem with my foot, and no next steps were discussed. [...]

Appointments are easily made for the near future. From checkin to appointment to blood draw, the process is always smooth and rapid (can usually complete all aspects in 1 hour or less for routine visits). All staff interactions are positive and responsive, and I love the MyChart communications which include my lab results. Very happy with this clinic, staff, and PA specifically--she is excellent. Very knowledgeable, seems current with evidence based medicine, relateable, approachable (even for things beyond the scope of the scheduled appointment topic), and timely. I've actually moved farther away and will continue to return based on the positive interactions I have had here so far.

I did note at the time of check in that there is always little to no eye contact. Not so friendly. Always polite, though.

Limited options to a horribly cough. I ended up treating myself with an inhaler that was not offered at this visit but one I had used in the past. Dr. [...] is my main provider and I feel when I have to use someone else I don't get the same care.

The time with the PA did not start out well, I felt there was some tension between us and it made me uncomfortable. It could be I was in a great deal of pain and was overly sensitive but i looked at her and expressed my feelings. The entire atmosphere of the appointment changed dramatically and she seemed to "drop down a knotch" from task mode to listen mode. After that the appointedment progressed very well and she actually did help me quite a bit.

Sheryl and her team were absolutely amazing and very supportive in a time of need. Having moved to the Portland area more recently, I started to feel "down" due to the sun not shining for weeks on end; along with a number of other changes going on in my life [...]. Sheryl and her team sat with me and talked about attending [...] support groups (which I have now signed up for), continuing to get exercise and fresh air daily and continuing to meet new folks. The way I felt when I walked into the office was completely different from how I felt when I walked out. Thank you Sheryl and team!

This is by far the worst medical provider I have ever met. I felt like I was being interrogated by the police. [...] She did not listen well, offer me time to explain my clinical situation, nor did she seem to understand the medications being provided for me. She came to improper conclusions [...]

My provider listened to me and ordered routine bloodwork I need to manage a chronic disease. However, when it came time to refill a medication prescribed by a specialist as a permanent therapy, she decided that she knew better than my allergist and did not want to refill the medication. I definitely got the impression of the "gatekeeper" role [...]
