Biography & Education

Joanna joined the Providence Maternal Care Clinic in 2011 and she loves being present in such a transformative, exciting moment in people's lives.

Prior to returning to school to become a midwife herself, Joanna worked as an assistant in a home birth practice in Los Angeles. It was a wonderful experience providing care to women in their home setting, and she strives to bring a sense of calm and gentleness to all of the births she attends.

Joanna has a special interest in serving the LGBT community and also enjoys providing gynecological care.

Joanna is a Portland native and, after living in California for many years, she is happy to be back in the Pacific Northwest. She has a wonderful partner and a young son. She was a patient of the Providence Maternal Care Clinic herself and felt it was an incredible experience giving birth in her home practice.

When not working, she loves to berry pick, hike and ride her bike around town.

Patient Ratings and Comments
About Our Survey

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments. These comments are the views and opinions of patients and are not endorsed by or necessarily reflect the views of Providence.

I waited almost an hour after I checked in, staff was good about it and I'm not sure there was much else that could have been done but that was a LONG time & I had a babysitter waiting on me.

Joanna is very caring, and remembers my health history.

Everything was wonderful for my first visit! I look forward to the next several months of visits with them!

Joanna is amazing. I will request her in the future.

Joanna is an excellent provider. She always answer questions with informative and eay to understand answers. I always enjoy my visits with her.

Joanna is great- she listens, answers all questions, and takes time to do so. I appreciate this when visiting the clinic.

Such a pleasant experience and I really feel heard, understood, & that thought is placed by the care team in regards to my health & pregnancy. Especially with a history of loss, it's important to be heard so that you feel the best possible care and options are being advocated. I feel I get that with my providence care providers. Thank you for everything so far!
