Biography

As Kathleen Rocco, PA-C, began her career as a physician assistant, she received sound advice from a physician colleague: Break down patient concerns and focus on one thing at a time. "That advice served me well and still works today," said Kathleen. "The best things in life are worked on and enjoyed when we focus on one thing at a time."

Kathleen believes a team approach to patient care improves coordination and quality care. "Care should be personalized and adjusted as we age and change," she says. "I like to emphasize information gathering and education with a goal of helping the patient decide what works best for them."

After earning her Bachelor of Science degree in general science from the University of Oregon in Eugene, Kathleen completed her master's degree in physician assistant studies from Oregon Health & Science University in Portland.

Kathleen was born in Nebraska but has spent most of her adult life in Oregon. In her free time, she enjoys reading and creating mosaic art.

Patient Ratings and Comments
About Our Survey

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments. These comments are the views and opinions of patients and are not endorsed by or necessarily reflect the views of Providence.

read blood test wrong.said I had a high red blood cells count, which actually was a high white blood cell count. I felt like this provider didn't know what she was talking about. I asked to see someone else, but was denied.I don't want to go back for any doctor visits at this hospital. I will find another hospital.

Very slow; waited 45 min past appt in exam room. Diagnosed sore throat as allergies even though said severe sore throat usually not indicative of allergies. 3 days later went to immediate care due to virus moving into right eye and causing severe infection. Previous experience with provider she wrote down incorrect reason for my visit which caused great confusion when following up with my Primary Care.

when you are asked if you will wear a mask in reception because of cough and you say no it is due to asthma respect it and not get nasty and tell me to just take a mask anyway you don't have to wear it

the entire time I've been a part of Providence medical home I have not seen or communicated with the same provider twice so no one there knows me or my issues. they ordered blood work for A1C but none of my other chronic issues which seems like limited care - my diabetes affects other things as well. I am very unhappy with care at Providence and will be looking for another PCP as my primary insurance doesn't require PMH. I waited in the exam room for 30 minutes between the medical assistant and the provider coming which may have been longer except that I stepped out of the room to inquire when I would be seen. very poor service all the way around.

My regular PCP was out so this appointment was scheduled in her place. Rocco did a great job consulting my records, asking what I needed and responding well to needs appropriately. She was far more thorough than I expected of someone who didn't know me well.

I had an unusual situation and needed to talk to Dr. [...], but she wasn't available, so I took Dr. Rocco, who did not know the background of my situation.

In general all experiences have been good. But I would like to keep my medications list current, and when I have asked to have the list changed, sometimes it takes more than one request to get the list updated. Medications that I am not taking seem to stay on the list.

Too long of a wait to see specialists. They are all booked. [...] Should not have to endure so much pain for so long w/o help.

[...] Rocco was insecure with my issues and I don't feel as confident with her. I think the long waits to get to our providers is ludicrous! I feel there has to be a better solution than to overload them [...]

The provider is not who I generally see but she did a great job in gathering my history, present condition and getting additional physical therapy to evaluate me right on the spot.
