Craig was born and raised in Coos Bay, Oregon. He majored in Biochemistry and minored in Jazz Performance at Portland State University, where he met his wife, Stephanie. During his undergraduate years, Craig worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, a college teacher, and a researcher investigating ribozymes. After two years of basic research in physiology at OHSU, Craig decided he preferred people to pipettes and entered medical school. Craig’s hobbies include playing basketball, attending jazz concerts and Blazer games, camping, and spending quality time with Stephanie. After residency, Craig plans to pursue a career in critical care medicine.
