Professional memberships include The North Pacific Society of Internal Medicine, the American Gastroenterology Association, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American College of Physicians, and the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition.

Currently, Dr. Phillips serves as the medical director of the Metabolic Support Team and is chairman of the Medical Education Committee at Providence Portland Medical Center. He is interested in overseas medicine and spent six weeks at Moi University, Eldoret, Kenya as an attending physician in internal medicine and gastroenterology in 2002.

His area of specialty in gastroenterology includes endoscopic ultrasound.

Dr. Phillips is associated with Providence Cancer Center.
"I view my role as a physician to be primarily that of an educator in the lives of my patients," says Dr. Phillips. "I attempt to provide insight and information to my patients, thus enabling them to better understand their unique situation. Through a better understanding of health, disease process and treatment alternatives, the patient and I can develop a plan together that will define expectations and meet their needs."
