Thuy-Tien Pham, M.D., says she knew from the moment she decided to be a doctor, she would go into primary care because she enjoys helping people and building long-term relationships. “I enjoy getting to know my patients,” she says. “I like being able to help them in a variety of situations, whether they are healthy, in need of preventive care or ill.”
Her more important role as a physician, Dr. Pham says, is to “act as a guide so my patients can choose what is best for their health and navigate the complexities of our health care system.”
Dr. Pham earned her medical degree from Creighton University in Nebraska. She completed her internship and residency at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from University of Portland.
A native Oregonian, Dr. Pham volunteers overseas when she has the opportunity and has been to Nicaragua, Dominican Republic and Guatemala. She speaks Vietnamese and basic Spanish as well as English. When she’s not working, she enjoys cooking and trying new foods.
