Biography

Susan Payne, M.D., believes that establishing a caring and trusting relationship with her patients is her most important role as a primary care provider. “It’s not enough to deliver quality care in and of itself,” she says. “By taking the time to listen and educate my patients, they understand that I care about them receiving the best possible medical advice and attention.”

Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Payne earned her medical degree at the University of California, Irvine College of Medicine. She completed her residency at the University of California, San Diego Medical Center and for five years was a member of the clinical faculty at Stanford University’s School of Medicine in Palo Alto, Calif.

Outside of the office, Dr. Payne enjoys time with her husband, a real estate investment advisor, and their two daughters. She also enjoys long-distance cycling, running and alpine skiing or curling up with a good novel.

About Our Survey

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments.

Wait time to see Dr. Payne can be excessive. She seems to be overbooked often and runs behind on scheduled appointments. The care that I receive and information she provides shows her passion and knowledge for the work she does.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Payne. She spends time with her patients, listening and offering good, sound information. I'm sorry I didn't go to her before I needed surgery, but wouldn't dream of seeing any other GYN ever again. She's very gentle and understanding when you're uncomfortable or a worrier.

This was the first time I saw Dr. Payne. I have never had a doctor take the time to really do a comprehensive intake and treatment plan. I was very, very impressed. I like the use of email, too.

I love Dr. Payne. She is a fantastic provider. However, the clinic is too busy. It is too hard to schedule an appointment to see her when needed. When I have an appointment I often have to plan for her to be running at least 45 minutes to 1 hour late. I wait because I like and have confidence in Dr. Payne, but I would not recommend this clinic to any others for this reason.

Dr. Payne is fabulous. But I had to make my appt four months in advance, and then 36 hours before my appt, they called and wanted to change it to much earlier in the day, which was very inconvenient, so that Dr. Payne could be in surgery during my scheduled time. I was told that my only other option was to wait ANOTHER three months for the appointment. Since I had to have a pap smear before Sept. 30 or pay my insurance a penalty, I had to rearrange my entire day to make an appt a time that I never would have scheduled it for. I'm not happy about that.
