Biography

In his practice, Daniel Norfleet, M.D., emphasizes respect for all his patients. "I try to do this by creating ongoing conversations about what's important for the patient in terms of medical care and decisions," he says. "I want to ensure my patients have a comprehensive understanding of their health care plan."

As a physician, Dr. Norfleet most enjoys the social interaction and continuity of care with patients. "It keeps me invested and interested in caring for others," he says. "Learning about my patients' backgrounds and the relationship between their medical concerns and values or preferences make each visit different and challenging."

After earning his medical degree from University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, Dr. Norfleet completed his residency at Providence Portland Medical Center. He is board certified in internal medicine.

Before entering medicine, Dr. Norfleet was a Jesuit volunteer working with the HIV population in Alaska. He values working with people from diverse backgrounds. "It's important for me to create and maintain a safe, welcoming space for my patients," he says.

Dr. Norfleet was born in South Korea and grew up in Virginia and Alabama with his adoptive family. He and his partner are happy to call Portland home. In his free time, he enjoys Bikram yoga, traveling, tennis, and cooking.

About Our Survey

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments.

I'm very pleased that when I come in with an issue, it's dealt with, as opposed to 'wait and see' like I've had in the past. I wouldn't go see a doctor if I didn't have a problem.

Dr. Norfleet appears to very knowlegible and has a very good bedside manner. However on my last visit, I was prescribed a controlled substance and he forgot to sign the prescription, so I had to return to the office for a signature. Luckily he was between appointments and my pharmacy was a short walk away--it could've been a real problem for me otherwise!

This was my first time at Providence and feel that I could have used more than a half hour to review everything given my health history, 15 minutes more would have sufficed.

He's energetic/cares, he could just use a few more years; he'd be fantastic for lifestyle adjustment patients. I just needed someone a bit more versed in new allopathic treatments.

It felt strange that the provider did not have room to see me that day, so I was scheduled to see a PA. Then at the last minute Dr. Norfleet came in the room and said, I can see you.

I feel he doesn't really care. I came from [...] to Providence and I have seen a lot of doctors due to my condition. I have been referred and referred and referred with very little help. The help I do get seems to make everything worse. My health is important to me and it should be as well with my doctor. [...]

He is pleasant, but never seems to remember much about my health. It has taken nearly 2 year for him to somewhat grasp what are in my records and my health condition. He doesn't listen well, and couldn't remember why is was there.

Dr. Norfleet shows that he is committed to my health concerns and not just giving a prescription. I have never had a Doctor like Dr. Norfleet that I consider a friend. My visits are professional but I know we find results. A super guy!!!

Dr. Norfleet seems very knowledgeable, and is an excellent listener. He is not my primary care physician, but I have seen him for urgent concerns on at least a couple occasions. I have felt comfortable with his treatment plans each visit, and would recommend him to family or friends.

Since I have been a patient of Dr. Norfleet, I have had all good experiences. Using MyChart has enabled me to make appts., renew Rx, and follow up on tests easy to do from home. Referrals are transmitted promptly. My personal preference is to find a good physician and when I do, I stay with them. I have had two previous providers who retired out. Dr. Norfleet seems young enough that I plan to stay with him for a while.
