Nikki Moxon manages breast cancer clinical trials for Providence Cancer Center throughout the Portland metro area.
Through inpatient oncology nursing experience and five years of radiation oncology experience, I have developed a love of the partnership between patients, their familes, and their treatment teams.
It has always been vitally important to me to be involved in patient and family teaching, and in presenting the best and most current evidence-based practice for cancer care. Through my clinical trials practice I work closely with physicians, researchers, and patients to pursue and investigate current and future cancer therapies. I also have a strong interest in working with trials that focus on minimizing the ill effects of cancer and its treatments for patients. Working in research has given me the ability to continually learn and improve my nursing skills and knowledge.
Research and clinical trials has given me the oppportunity to be at the forefront of new therapies and to make significant contributions of my own to quality cancer care. Everyday I see patients whose strength in the face of fighting cancer is truly humbling. Their ability to continue to see the joyous and the wonderful parts of life never fails to be inspiring. They are an integral part of our ability to learn from our research, and their committment to science, and each other, is always generous.
Working at Providence has meant working for an institution that has made cancer research, and the efforts of so many patients and their family's, possible. Providence has made cancer research a priority, and I am honored to be a part of such an amazing team.
