Biography & Education

The diversity of dermatology is what drew Karen Minzer, M.D., to the field. "I enjoy helping with everything from cancer screenings, to managing serious skin disease to performing surgery, and to encouraging patients to keep their skin as healthy as possible," said Dr. Minzer.

"I believe it's important to be a good listener and understand my patients' concerns," she said. "I consider myself an advocate for my patients and like to work with them as a team. In doing so, we can work together to form a relationship built on trust and respect."

After earning her medical degree from the University of California San Francisco, Dr. Minzer completed a pediatrics internship at UCSF and a dermatology residency at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. Dr. Minzer is board certified in dermatology.

Prior to her medical career, Dr. Minzer was a professional musician, performing in Japan and throughout the United States. In her free time she enjoys hiking, backpacking, and traveling with her husband and three sons.

Patient Ratings and Comments
About Our Survey

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments.

Terrible wait time when you call in for appointment.

I was told the doctor was doing "scraping" of the areas for biopsy, however, I was left with big holes where she removed tissue. Today is over one month later and the holes have still not healed satisfactorily. I am most unhappy with this experience. [...]

Wonderful doctor.

She asked good questions and helped me to understand the nature of the skin lesions I had been worried about. I felt she listened and gave me clear answers, and explanations.

The doctor herself was wonderful. The female receptionist was not good at all. [...] I came in for the appointment she was short and not warm or friendly towards me. She asked me how she could help me in a rude voice [...] I told her I was there for an appointment and she again was not friendly. [...] To top it off, I sat in the waiting room for 25 minutes. Great job by entire staff

she provided great information for my daughter (8 years old) and made sure she understood what was happening, her diagnosis, and was comfortable before we left.

My doctor is knowledgeaable an caring. My exams are thorough explainations are understandable. Thats why I have Providence I know I will get the best care. The colonostipy probably saved my life. Dr. [...] caught the mole an sent me to Dr. Minzer to remove small cancer. Thank for your great care.

Got appointment within 1 day, due to cancellation, otherwise it would have been a 4-5 weeks for appointment

I asked for a complete skin exam to see if there were any problems. Dr. Minzer-Conzetti gave a nearly full exam, but I had to ask her to look at a small area of my skin that she did not look at.

Thorough, attentive. Explained procedure and expected outcome. Printed reference docs to use at home.

my experience was very good
