Biography

"The best part of being a physician is when you've really helped someone feel better," says Annie Mack, M.D. "That may be as concrete as treating an ear infection, managing a chronic disease, or providing emotional support and advice to a new patient."

In her practice, Dr. Mack encourages her patients - both children and adults - to maintain a healthy, balanced diet and to participate in regular physical activity. "Together, eating well and staying active can help prevent many chronic diseases," she says. "My most important role is to provide information and evidence-based medicine so that patients, parents and/or caregivers can make informed decisions."

Dr. Mack earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She completed her internship and residency in pediatrics and internal medicine at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Mass. She is board certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics.

Away from the office, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, traveling, learning about new cultures and going to farmers' markets.

About Our Survey

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments.

First time to meet Dr. Mack, but was told "She's really nice" by someone in scheduling. I was given good advice, and enjoyed meeting her.

I went in for [...] symptoms and difficulty sleeping. The only thing she ever wants to do is put me on anti-depressants and refer me out to a psychiatrist or other specialist so she doesn't have to deal with me. She NEVER listens.

All needed tests were ordered prior to visit. I appreciated that the provider had the results ahead of time so we could discuss them.

It's been nearly two weeks since I had a pap smear and I still don't have any results. I've called the office, was told my doctor had the results but hasn't read them yet. Now I'm feeling scared that there's something wrong but I can't get an answer.

I became a patient with Dr. Mack when she was with [...]. Her current office is VERY inconvenient from where I live, but I followed her to Providence because I found she is an excellent and thorough doctor and has worked with me addressing all concerns. I very much trust her to have my best interest at heart.

I have seen this provider only one time, and because I had a specific medical worry. She did refer me to the necessary tests. She listened to my concern but didn't listen quite as well as possible to my history (since I'm new and I would think that would be helpful/important.) I know appointments are timed and probably she was just trying to stay on schedule

I have a complicated medical history. In the past I could always see a physician same day. I believe Dr Macks Practice is too full for her to fit me in. I only see her for serious concerns. This is just personal. I saw the PA and that never seems a good fit since they do not have the experience.

I didn't get to see my regular doctor, but I was glad that they could get me in right away. They gave me the medication I needed to get better. I had the flu and the doctor was very good in suggesting that I get tested, so that we were sure. They followed up, promptly, and were very thorough.

Dr Mack is great. She is non judgemental, and helps with issues when you bring them to her. She makes you feel comfortable, and is upfront about cost of certain things.

I feel rushed during my visits and am always worried I am going to forget to bring something up before the doctor dashes out the door. I feel like if I wasn't medically knowledgeable from my own career as a [...] and online research and actively directing my own care that not much would come of my primary care visits. For example, I request that certain labs be done as follow up for certain health concerns that I have. And I specifically have requested physical therapy when I felt it would be beneficial for an acute issue. I also feel like I have to remember all of the things that I feel need follow up from visit to visit and that I am much more knowledgeable about my medical history than my doctor. I actually do like my doctor and plan to continue seeing her because in spite of the above complaints. She does seem to care, listens to me, and respects my concerns and requests. I feel like much of the above is representative of our [...] and not specifically a problem with my doctor. Doctors are extremely rushed by their tight scheduling and have too many patients to provide personalized care.

Dr. Mack is an excellent listener and takes the extra time to answer my questions. She never gives me the impression she has to rush off to the next patient even though I know this is a very busy office.
