Biography

"The best part of being a physician is when you've really helped someone feel better," says Annie Mack, M.D. "That may be as concrete as treating an ear infection, managing a chronic disease, or providing emotional support and advice to a new patient."

In her practice, Dr. Mack encourages her patients - both children and adults - to maintain a healthy, balanced diet and to participate in regular physical activity. "Together, eating well and staying active can help prevent many chronic diseases," she says. "My most important role is to provide information and evidence-based medicine so that patients, parents and/or caregivers can make informed decisions."

Dr. Mack earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She completed her internship and residency in pediatrics and internal medicine at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Mass. She is board certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics.

Away from the office, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, traveling, learning about new cultures and going to farmers' markets.

When scheduling a patient, please keep in mind that they are on a schedule also. It is very frustrating to have to wait more than 10 minutes past your appointment time.

Dr. Mack is a wonderful doctor. She listens better than any doctor I have had. She is compassionate, kind and very helpful. I feel very lucky to have found her.

This was my first visit to Dr. Mack. It was a new patient visit. My previous PCP moved to Iowa. I was referred to Dr. Mack by an associate at work. I found her to be very thorough. I'm very pleased with her and would not hesitate to refer her to friends or family.

Dr opened the door to walk out and I had other unanswered questions. she continued to talk while door was open about several questions I had. Felt she was too quick to prescribe Prilosec and refer me back to my reg Dr. if that didn't work for me to get me out the door. Dismissive attitude when I was asking questions as it was obvious she couldn't wait to get going.Also mix up before I arrived, receiving a phone call to ask if I would see nurse prac but I preferred a woman. When I checked it I was switches to Anna Mack who then entered the exam room surprised that I was a patient who needed an interpreter? Took 40 minutes after visit to change an over the counter prescription to a written one so I could use a coupon to run through pharmacy for cost savings. After the wait, I re-checked on the written prescription and said the Dr was busy with patients so they would call it in. That should be the standard procedure to save patient time.

I feel that every time I come in I'm told to come back another time and my issues are never fully addressed. I wish she wasn't more aggressive dr. making me feel like she was actually testing me for things when I come in for the same issue continuously

I am unable to communicate with Dr. Mack. She doesn't show any interest nor follow-up. I would like someone to help me change doctors [...] Right now, after waiting all day for Dr. Mack to call, I was told that I SHOULD call my insurance to see if my CT scan is authorized and I should go to the Emergency Room if I am having more pain. All day, I waited for that news. For three years I have complained about pain in abdomen, yes, I did have checks with other doctors, but since nothing was seen, I am supposed to go home without further exams. I am hurting and I am sorry that no one can find my problem, but I still am in pain. [...]

I am looking to switch providers. My pain isn't being addressed sufficiently. I also had genetic testing and she didn't even address those results and effects of how I react to some of my meds.

An assistant will call & tell you results of testing, but no details. I needed more information and was told I had to make an appointment. She would not told to me by phone.

Cheerful, communicative Dr. - also grateful to have a female Dr! I had come to her with special needs about 6 months ago & she carefully checked out everything. I was also able to ask her advice on several medical questions & she is very personable & helpful.

Reception desk was very rude. Rep who called to set up next appointment was EXTREMELY rude, and refused to answer simple questions, to the point where I felt beaten down and went along with the information chosen by the rep. She was having a bad day, and mentioned as much, but was mean to the point of it feeling personal.

Not enough time was allowed for the visit. I felt rushed from the moment the doctor entered and was told we could only address the first three items on my list and make another appointment for any other concerns. I do not feel this is the A problem with Dr. Mack, rather a problem with the system. Nothing new there!

Dr. Mack listened very well, was compassionate, and very approachable. I am a lesbian, which can at times cause awkwardness in my interactions with health care providers. Dr. Mack treated me with warmth and respect and openness. My impression of her is that she is highly competent and professional, and has great empathy and the human touch with her patients. Makes her an excellent doctor all around.

I'm so happy with Dr. Mack and everyone involved with Providence! I had the same health care provider for 15 years in [...] and was nervous about moving to PDX and starting with new providers. I have been pleased and impressed by the professionalism of all your staff -- by phone making appointments or asking questions; front desk staff; etc. Thank you!

In years past, the primary Dr usually gave you a complete exam from " top to bottom" including skin check. Now that doesn't happen. Today it is a heart and lung check . no one checks my carotid, neck. ankles and general body exam.

I arrived early for my appt., and was finished with the appt. before it was scheduled to have begun. Staff initiated asking if I had been waiting longer than 15 min. but I had been there approx.5 min. total.
