“Practicing medicine involves more than just diagnosis and treatment of diseases; it requires compassion and understanding of patients,” says Vien Luu, M.D. “My philosophy of care was best expressed by Dr. Francis Peabody, who said, ‘The secret of the care of the patient is in caring for the patient.’” Beyond her dedication to individual patients, Dr. Luu is committed to her longstanding desire to improve the health of the community as a whole.
Born in Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam, Dr. Luu earned her medical degree at Westfalia Wilhelms University in Münster, Germany. She completed her internship and residency in the United States at the University of Virginia, Roanoke-Salem. Besides English, she speaks German and Vietnamese.
Outside of her work, Dr. Luu enjoys volunteering, aerobic exercise and spending time with her family.
