About Our Survey

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments.

I was undergoing congestive heart failure with my lungs filling up with fluid that caused incessant coughing to bring fluid from my lungs. A CatScan had showed the fluid fiillup. Dr Lewis and another doctor with [...] treated me for bronchitis instead, which was futile. I spent the next week in the hospital under the care of my cardiologist, and I am now home recuperating.

Dr. Lewis was respectful toward me even though I had not followed his instructions exactly. He explained the consequences in a professional manner, with enough force, but also with empathy. He's a good doctor.

Dr Lewis walked me to the lab personally the first time I met him. I thought that he went overboard to make me feel welcome. I've enjoyed going to Dr Lewis for advise about my health and he always made me understand the severity or the impact of my condition. I'll be seeing him soon I'm sure.

Dr. Lewis seems very competent, but I wish he would listen more. He tends to talk most of the time and not listen as much as he should. He places too much emphasis on food (organic, other additives, etc) Also, seems rushed.

He was very fast. Covered all the bases like he was on the clock. No chit chat. No back and forth about getting to know each other. Very efficient. Very direct. It was a good thing that I have a health information background because if I were not used to things medical, he may have left me in the dust! He asked if I had any questions, but I would have needed to chew on what he'd said for 10 minutes before I could formulate some good questions. I will try the website to ask some further questions of him outside of office time. [...] Dr. Lewis will be an efficient provider for me, but the hope of a warm, personal friendship is probably a thing of the past. Too bad. Since I have only had an initial visit, it is hard to be completely fair as of yet. I will see how things go when we have had more encounters.

I first reported thumbnail damage at my physical in May, and Dr. Lewis took a quick look and said my nail bed was damaged and hopefully the nail will grow back. When the nail didn't grow back, I went back and saw a physician's assistant who did a culture. I was prescribed an ointment and antibiotic. I had to call in for results of the culture, and was given very confusing instructions on what to do next, and when I went back in and saw another physician's assistant, I was told I misunderstood the instructions even though the person I was speaking to was going back to Dr. Lewis for clarification. After three rounds of different antibiotics, I finally was able to get in to a dermatologist who prescribed an anti-fungal cream, and that seems to have worked. We'll see if the nail grows back.

I answered the alcohol question truthfully. I have consumed 4 1 1/2 oz of liquor drinks in a day about 4 times in a year. I was given a questionnaire for alcoholics and did not appreciate that. It is not an issue for me. This was silly

I've been seeing Darren Lewis for more than 5 years and have been completely happy with his care of me. I especially appreciate his going over the importance of nutritional habits and the need for regular exercise as I'm healthy enough that I have been able to slack in these areas...and he always calls me out on it and I appreciate that. He also listens enough (and has known me long enough) to refer me to others when he feels it's necessary and I wouldn't know to connect those symptoms and need to be checked out more fully. I'm very happy with my care and I would highly recommend Dr Lewis to others (and I have)
