To Claudia Leonard, M.D., an important part of taking good care of her patients is encouraging them to take good care of themselves. “I strive to teach patients about their health or illness, and to involve them in making good decisions about their care,” she says. She also emphasizes the importance of treating each patient with respect and concern.
A graduate of Harvard University and Harvard Medical School, Dr. Leonard completed her internal medicine residency at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Before joining the Department of Medicine faculty practice, she worked as the chief medical officer and sole physician for a 45-bed hospital in Kenya. She is board-certified in internal medicine.
In her free time, Dr. Leonard enjoys hiking and skiing with her husband and their three children.
