In her practice, dermatologist Heh Shin Kwak, M.D., emphasizes empowering her patients to take charge of their dermatology care, whether it's learning about a skin condition or the importance of sun protection. "Oregon has the fifth highest rate of melanoma in the country," says Dr. Kwak. "Although public awareness of skin cancer has increased over the years, my most important role is to educate patients to take an active role in their own care."
"What I enjoy most about being a dermatologist is seeing patients of all ages and especially entire families," said Dr. Kwak. "One of the most satisfying aspects of medicine is seeing multiple family members and being entrusted to their care."
After earning her medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Dr. Kwak completed an internship at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, Ill., and a residency st Stanford University Medical Center in California. Dr. Kwak is board certified in dermatology.
In her free time, Dr. Kwak enjoys rock climbing, hiking, cooking and spending time with her husband and son.
