"I chose family medicine because it champions comprehensive, long-term medical care that focuses on quality of life, shared decision-making and care for entire communities," says Dr. Melissa Jeffers.
In her practice, she works to guide and educate her patients so they can take better control of their health, and encourages them to be active in their care. Her philosophy of care is to prevent problems before they happen.
To pursue her interests in health care reform and advocacy for urban underserved populations, she has attended national conferences with health care leaders.
After receiving her undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon in Eugene, Dr. Jeffers earned her medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. She completed her training with Providence Milwaukie Family Medicine Residency.
Dr. Jeffers is a native Oregonian. In her free time, she enjoys running, swing dancing, hiking and is always trying to be a better cook. She speaks conversational French and is learning Spanish.
