With over 25 years of surgical experience, James Imatani, M.D., says this is an exciting time to be a physician. "There's an explosion of scientific knowledge and technical advancement on a near daily basis," he said. "Physicians are continuously being challenged to keep up-to-date with new discoveries. Although, we must always use perspective on what can be applied to each patient."
In his practice, Dr. Imatani emphasizes that every patient deserves respect and courteous treatment. "Patients should be provided with a basic understanding of their illness," he says. "I want them to feel confident they are receiving advice allowing them to make the best decisions for their health."
After earning his medical degree from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Dr. Imatani completed his internship and residency at Oregon Health & Science University. He is board certified in general surgery. Dr. Imatani is associated with Providence Cancer Center.
Born and raised in Denver, Dr. Imatani is a third-generation Japanese American. His summers spent helping his family with their pickle company helped him appreciate the value of hard work, leading him to his career in medicine. He is a Denver Bronco fan and enjoys golfing in his free time.
