Biography & Education

Dr. Hitchcock believes that the key to improving and maintaining health is a doctor and a patient working together to combine the best medical evidence with that patient's health care needs and value system.

“As partners, we can create a personalized health care program that can really work in an individual's life,” she says.

As a member of Providence Medical Group at Providence St. Vincent, Dr. Hitchcock has the opportunity to both practice this individualized health care approach and pass it on to the medical residents.

After earning her medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Dr. Hitchcock completed her residency and a Chief Resident year at the University of Rochester's Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y.

She loves Portland and enjoys the temperate weather and long gardening season here.

Patient Ratings and Comments
About Our Survey

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments. These comments are the views and opinions of patients and are not endorsed by or necessarily reflect the views of Providence.

Dr. Hitchock is wonderful. We interact well with her personality and friendliness. We have complete confidence in her care of both my husband (with multiple health issues) and myself. We have recommended her to our daughter as well.

Dr. Hitchcock listened to all my questions/concerns and explained everything thoroughly, allowing/listening to my opinions. I felt as if in a discussion, rather than an advice session, which I liked.

Thank you so much for great health care we always received over there.

Best PCP I've ever had -

I have good experiences to my provider.

The medical "assistant" did not introduce himself, & was not very personable.

I recommend PMG Resident clinic whenever I can. We love the care we get there.

Emily Hitchcock is an excellent physician. I eel like she listens and cares about me.

had to wait so long, we only had a short visit as I had to catch a Tri-Met bus.

Dr. Hitchcock is top notch. Very present.

She had computer & typed in everything needed.

Dr. Emily Hitchcock is a very caring physician. When I have an appointment with her, she pays a lot of attention and I feel she focuses on just me. Thank you, Dr. Hitchcock.

Emily Hitchcock is wonderful. Caring & knowledgeable.

Always listens to me and seeks my input.

I liked Dr.Hitchcock so much, I would like her to be my primary doctor, if possible. [...]

[...] Dr. Hitchcock knows me and understands my medical and mental health needs. I don't feel uncomfortable talking to her about sensitive and personal concerns. I have recommended Dr. Hitchcock to several people.

In all the years I have used Dr. Hitchcock, I have always been received warmly by not only the Dr. but also the staff. They are always very professional but not "stuffy" and have enjoyed some humor with all. Great practice and I have referred several people to this practice.

I love Dr. Hitchcock!

Dr. Hitchcock went above and beyond at this appointment. She had been away from the office when I had a medical episode that I was concerned about. I used MyChart to get hold of her and she got back to me though she was off. She said she would be back the next day and she would make time over her lunch break to see me. Had me call her staff and she had already informed them that I might call. she also said she would put orders in for me to get lab tests and went that day to get the tests drawn. When I did call I got the appointment right away and saw her for a good 30 minutes the next day and came up with a plan to address the issues we discussed, which included referrals to other physicians.

Dr. Hitchcock spent all the time I needed to do my exam and explain my follow up care. She also took the time to make sure my wife was included as I had asked. She is patient and compassionate.

Dr Hitchcock is the best doctor EVER!

I recommend the MA's allow patients to put their coats, purses, etc., down in the exam room before doing eye chart, ht. wt, etc., OR provide a place to set them down. In the winter, it is awkward to juggle items while having assessments made.

Always interested in giving me the best service possible.

Dr. Hitchcock is always professional and very helpful

Dr Hitchcock has been my provider for years & I wouldn't trade her for the world! She's amazing & I've only had one very bad experience while in the hospital T St. Vincent's. it is still the best hospital in the region!
