Dr. Michael Goodwin encourages patients to take preventive
steps to help maintain their health. “I emphasize the
importance of wellness and prevention of chronic disease
through healthy eating, regular exercise, healthy relationships
and positive thinking,” he says.
He believes his most important role as a physician is to be
an active, effective and compassionate listener. “I develop a
relationship with each patient so as to individualize the care
experience as much as possible,” Dr. Goodwin says. “I find
when I close my mouth and open my ears, it is easier to determine
the most effective way to communicate with a patient.”
Dr. Goodwin earned his medical degree from Oregon
Health & Science University in Portland. He is serving in the
Providence Milwaukie Hospital Family Medicine Residency.
A native Oregonian, Dr. Goodwin enjoys singing, playing the
acoustic guitar, hiking, reading, and spending time with his
wife and two sons.
