Barbara Esselink, M.D., believes that a healthy patient-physician relationship is key to achieving effective health care. “Trust between the patient and me is very important,” she says. “It’s important to really care for patients and realize that sometimes the caring relationship is as important as any medication.”
Taking a holistic approach to care, Dr. Esselink works with her patients to help find a balance between their physical needs and their social, economic, psychological and spiritual needs. She encourages her patients to live a healthy lifestyle and does all she can to support them.
After receiving her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Dr. Esselink completed her internship and residency at Providence Portland Medical Center.
Away from the office, Dr. Esselink enjoys hiking, camping and going to the symphony. She volunteers regularly, both in the community and overseas.
