Biography

James Cook, M.D., chose his profession because he’s always had a passion for matters of the heart. In his practice, he emphasizes excellence in care through partnership with his patients and their families. “The best outcomes are possible when patients are active team members in their medical decision-making,” he says.

I will go the extra mile to hear and understand my patients’ problems and needs,” he says.

Having earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Dr. Cook went on to complete his internship and residency with  Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center, Los Angeles and cardiology fellowships with The Hospital of the Good Samaritan in Los Angeles and Loma Linda University Medical Center, Loma Linda, CA.

Patient Ratings and Comments
About Our Survey

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments. These comments are the views and opinions of patients and are not endorsed by or necessarily reflect the views of Providence.

Dr. Cook and the NPs and nurses in his office are wonderful. They have been very thorough and have followed my specific needs as I worked to improve my health. I am very happy with the cardiology unit at Providence. I was a patent elsewhere and the difference in treating me with respect and concern between the two places is huge. I really like Providence. Wish you had an integrative PCP here like you do in the northern part of the state. Thanks for such good care!

Getting in to see Dr. Cook when something comes up prior to a scheduled appointment is difficult due to his availability, however, the scheduled appt. is worth the wait because Dr. Cook is very thorough. It is too bad he can't work at the other hospital too!
