After her residency, she served as a senior clinical instructor in Case Western’s emergency department and pediatric section. Dr. Chan-Lazzara joined our hospitalist group in 2006. She has served as one of our Emergency Department liaisons and developed discharge education material for asthmatic patients.
Outside the hospital, Dr. Chan-Lazzara is a question-writer for the American Board of Pediatrics. She is also fluent in Spanish and is currently studying Italian.

Cindy Chan-Lazzara, M.D., FAAP, FACP, is originally from Cleveland, Ohio. She completed her undergraduate work at Notre Dame University in Indiana, graduating with dual degrees in science pre-professional and Spanish. She completed her medical training at the Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico where she graduated with clinical distinction and was selected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.
Dr. Chan-Lazzara then returned to Ohio where she completed her internal medicine and pediatrics training at Case Western Reserve University. Her clinical distinctions there included the Senior Resident Goodfellow Award for dedication and service and the James F. Quilty Comprehensive Care Recognition Award for compassion and intellectual excellence in caring for children with special medical needs.
