Biography & Education

As a family physician, Marc Carey, M.D., enjoys helping his patients achieve their health goals. To accomplish this, he feels there must be clear and open communication. “To have an effective, trusting partnership with my patients, we must be willing to listen,” he says. “I find the best way to do this is to share life stories.”

Dr. Carey earned both a doctorate in neuroscience and his medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University. A native Oregonian, Dr. Carey is married and has two children.
For fun and relaxation, he collects comic books, does jigsaw puzzles and rides his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Patient Ratings and Comments
About Our Survey

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments. These comments are the views and opinions of patients and are not endorsed by or necessarily reflect the views of Providence.

Dr. Carey always listens to me [...]

My regular doctor is a very good one and I normally have no complaints about him however I did not see him and the one I did see was okay but the meds he gave me did not seem to do the job it was supposed to do

Have always had an excellent interaction with staff & Dr. Carey. Very professional & considerate of any concerns of mine.

Had to wait to see the dr., but his student came in & did prelim. exam/work very soon.

All good.

I'd tell others but then he may be too busy to suit me.

Always willing to listen to questions and give answers.

Very attentive & courteous.

Dr. Carey has always been quick to respond to my issues and recommend what referrals he feels would be helpful in addressing my issues

Dr. Carey is a provider I had not met before. However, he made me feel completely at ease with his knowledge of my medical record, straightforward approach, and sense of humor. I was pleasantly surprised.
