Patient Ratings and Comments
About Our Survey

The Patient Rating score is based on responses given during the CAHPS Patient Experience Survey. Responses are measured on a 10-point scale, with 10 being the best score. These scores are then translated to a 5-point scale in order to display results in a 5-star rating. Comments are also gathered from the same survey and displayed in their entirety with the exception of any language that may be considered slander, libel or contain private health information, which will be removed prior to publishing the comments.

My cardiologist retired and I was referred to Dr. [...] by my PCP. She was on maternity leave so they wanted me to see Dr. B. I felt like he didn't try to get to know me or ask many questions. It's different than what I'm used to so maybe I just need to get used to being a patient, not a person.

Doctor Beckerman is one of the most competent, empathetic; and, caring Physicians with which I have ever known or worked. I say that from the point of view of both as a patient as well as based on many years as a Hospital Administrator. I would rate him among the very best!

dr Beckerman was very personable and I felt like he listened to my concerns and gave me good things to think about as well as wasn't an alarmist or dismissive. He was also kind and considerate of my personal situation which I very much appreciated.

The nurse called with my test results, & simply said I was fine & Dr. Beckerman did not want to see me again. However, the symptoms I came in for persist and no explanation was offered nor was I told anything specific about my test.

Two unique things occurred on my visit. Dr. Beckerman had reviewed my records and lab work PRIOR to my appointment and he was 5 minutes AHEAD of schedule. He explained the significance of my scans and lab work and thoroughly described my options for further testing. The office staff was efficient and friendly.

Wait time to get in was long. Definitely has his set opinions on things and may not think outside the box too much and dismisses what a patient is telling him of what they are experiencing.

I have had a hard time getting people to take time to hear that I have a concern. I get it, I don't fit the profile of having heart issues [...]. Beckerman is the first to just listen and show concern. Even if he knows I am totally fine, I just want to know that someone is taking me seriously. [...] Beckerman balances between letting me know that I am probably okay, but also tries to make sure we are not missing anything. That is all I want. [...] I feel like Beckerman is on my side in helping me determine what is happening. At a minimum, I appreciate his time in working with me versus debating my concerns about my symptoms. [...] Long story short, yes I would recommend him.

Meeting Dr James Beckerman for the first time left me with the feeling that I was going to have the same trust and care with him as I did with now retired Dr. [...]. My son who took me for this appointment left with the same feelings.

My care providers, and Providence, are too focused on encouraging me to take statins, which do not agree with me. There has been no focus on the negative effects of statins, or exactly why statins are the best course of treatment for me. No one seems to know exactly why I should take statins or exactly why they apparently are co-incidentally tied to the reduction in heart disease.

Being new to the area, I was a little apprehensive having to start with new health care providers. My experience from the first call, through reception and the visit with Dr. Beckerman was completely comfortable and informative. I am totally satisfied and will continue to use him.
