Berta Baldovino Navarro, M.D., has always been fascinated by the human body. “Practicing the art of medicine offers a window into how the body works,” she says.
In her medical practice, Dr. Baldovino emphasizes empathy and cordiality in her patient interactions; in addition, she offers comprehensive analysis based on the best medical evidence. “Rarely a disease process is a sudden event. Diagnosis begins with a thorough interview in which we can identify an unrecognized precipitating risk factor,” she says. “Once we understand the context, then I see my role as a guide and coach for my patients so they may be empowered to control their disease process.”
Dr. Baldovino cherishes her relationships with and connections to her patients and their families. “I care for my patients the same way I would care of my own family,” she says. “Honesty is a must in the consult room. A medical relationship must be a trustworthy bond between the provider and patient as they find the best solution to a problem.”
Dr. Baldovino earned her medical degree from Universidad Industrial de Santander in Colombia. She then came to the United States for her residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine – Jacobi Medical Center and her fellowship at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center.
Raised in the Colombian Caribbean, Dr. Baldovino is bilingual in English and Spanish. Outside of her busy work schedule, her passion is travel.
