Providence Medical Foundations

Providence Medical Foundations

From the time the Sisters of Providence built the first hospital in Oregon in 1875, members of the community stood alongside them. Neighbors gave their money and their time, sharing the sisters' dream to provide medical care and support for those who needed it. That first hospital, now Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, was built entirely through charitable contributions.

Today the tradition of providing care to all, especially to the poor and vulnerable, continues throughout Providence's eight hospitals and many ministries in Oregon. As a not-for-profit health system, Providence relies on the fundraising efforts of the Oregon foundations to provide programs and services that otherwise would be unavailable. Philanthropic support also helps give all patients access to the latest technology, equipment and research.
