When asked to describe her philosophy of care, Amy Gillcrist, M.D., exclaims simply, "Prevention!" She encourages her patients to take charge of their health through exercise, a healthful diet and symptom control, such as maintaining normal blood pressure and blood sugar. She sees herself as a source of education, information and support for her patients.
Dr. Gillcrist became a primary care physician because of the opportunities to build relationships with her patients, aiding them both in sickness and in the pursuit of optimum health. She earned her medical degree at Oregon Health & Science University, and completed her internship and residency at Providence Portland Medical Center.
A native Portlander, Dr. Gillcrist is very active in her spare time. She enjoys running, weight lifting, swimming, golf, gardening and reading.
