At Providence, we want to help you keep your kids safe this summer. Consider these simple tips:
Block the sun. Avoid direct sun exposure. Always wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher and make sure it has UVA and UVB protection.
Ban mosquitoes. Use bug repellent and wear long-sleeved shirts and pants outdoors – especially at dusk, around water and in areas where mosquitoes are visible.
Keep hydrated with water. Staying hydrated is important. Be sure your child drinks water before, during and after strenuous activity.
Protect your eyes. Keep ultraviolet light out of your eyes. Find cool-looking sunglasses for your kids that offer more than 90 percent UVA and UVB protection.
Be safe in the water. Always have supervision and make sure your kids know how to swim so they can handle the deep end of the pool. When boating, always wear a proper-fitting life preserver.
Wear helmets. It’s important to always wear a proper-fitting helmet when biking, skating and skate boarding. This goes for grown ups, too!
