Overview

Providence St.Vincent Medical Center is a 523-bed tertiary care facility on the west side of the Portland metropolitan area. It is one of the country’s 100 Top Hospitals and was the first hospital in Oregon to receive Magnet Recognition for Excellence in Nursing Service. The hospital is home to a premier cardiac care and research program, a world-class biomedical laser research facility, and Oregon’s first nationally certified stroke center.

The Providence St. Vincent hospitalist program is the most complex and innovative of our five programs. In addition to a traditional adult-medicine service, this program provides a pediatrics service and has piloted work in skilled nursing facility care and in peri-operative co-management. Daily hospitalist staffing includes seven day-shift adult-care physicians, two day-shift medical/pediatric physicians, two swing-shift physicians, a night-shift nocturnist, and a night-shift pediatrician.

As an important part of the Providence St. Vincent Internal Medicine Residency Program, our hospitalists enjoy many opportunities for teaching.
