The Journal of Neurosurgery has published research by Providence neurosurgeon Vivek Deshmukh, M.D., FACS, on delayed ipsilateral intraparenchymal hemorrhage following use of the Pipeline Embolization Device to treat aneurysms.

In addition, Dr. Deshmukh's abstract on a new surgical approach for brainstem lesions was accepted for the annual meeting of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons/Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery’s 2014 International Endovascular Stroke Conference in February.

Stanley Cohan, M.D., Ph.D., medical director of Providence Multiple Sclerosis Center, co-authored an article in the October 2013 issue of Current Medical Research and Opinion. The article examines the effectiveness of oral agent dimethyl fumarate, or BG-12, for treating multiple sclerosis.

Neurosurgeon David Antezana, M.D., presented an e-poster on “EMG Monitoring Threshold in Lumbar Spine Pedicle Screw Testing” at the Scoliosis Research Society Annual Meeting in Lyon, France, in September 2013. Another of Dr. Antezana’s posters, “Evaluation of EMG Monitoring of Pedicle Screw Placement with CT Scan Confirmation in an Adult Deformity Population,” will be presented at the American Association of Neurological Surgeons Annual Scientific Meeting in April.
