Region misses HCAHPS target, but gains momentum
March 20, 2013
Last year’s HCAHPS inpatient scores have been tallied. Although only three hospitals surpassed the year’s target score of 72.6 percent, almost every Oregon hospital showed great improvement.
Providence Newberg, Hood River and Portland exceeded the 2012 target, with Newberg scoring the highest at 80 percent. Despite the Epic go-live at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in April, the hospital’s scores rebounded from lows in the second and third quarters with a fourth-quarter Target Plus score of 74.1 percent.
Similarly, Providence Portland had a slow start, but finished with third- and fourth-quarter scores at Target Plus and Outstanding. It finished the year just above target.
The region’s momentum will help during the Epic go-lives scheduled in 2013 for the remaining seven hospitals in Oregon. To learn more, contact Amy Brooks, regional program manager, patient experience.
