Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)

IVUS is used most frequently in imaging the coronary arteries of the heart in determining both the amount of plaque build-up within the wall of coronary artery and/or the degree of stenosis or narrowing of the arteries. Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) or an intravascular echocardiography is a test that uses sound waves to produce an image of the coronary arteries which lets physicians look inside blood vessels to see the condition of the arteries.
