May 21, 2014
Alejandro Perez, M.D., recently was named regional medical director for Providence Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine Program.
Dr. Perez will oversee hyperbaric chambers and wound care at Providence Portland Medical Center and wound care at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center.
Hyperbaric services take place in sealed chambers that provide pure oxygen to heal wounds and treat carbon monoxide poisoning, decompression sickness and, most recently, idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss.
Dr. Perez, also a vascular medicine specialist, joined Providence Heart and Vascular Institute 2013. He earned his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and completed his residency and vascular medicine fellowship at Cleveland Clinic. His clinical interests include peripheral arterial disease, venous disease, thromobosis management, wound care and vascular ultrasound.
“Wounds can cause a significant impact on a person’s quality of life and health,” Dr. Perez says. “Our team will work to provide consistent and high-quality wound care and hyperbaric treatment in all of our facilities.”
