Do you have the Heart to Start?

It's never too early to start thinking about your heart.

Get on your feet and add years to your life! All you need is a goal, a plan and a whole lot of support. Join the Providence Heart to Start program and train to run or walk a 5K, 10K or half-marathon. Participate in person or virtually on Facebook. The program is free and includes workout plans, heart-healthy resources and a supportive online community. 

Heart to Start is focused on making exercise enjoyable, achievable and inclusive.

Get inspired by some of the participants from previous years in this video and watch the team complete their goal.

Here's how to get started:

  1. Review the workout plans and see which distance is right for you. Consider training for a 5K if you are new to walking or running.
  2. Watch the videos in our Heart to Start library to get tips on proper running form, shoes, nutrition and gear.
  3. "Like" the Heart to Start Facebook page and follow us on Twitter. Connect with other team members, share victories and challenges and find inspiration and motivation to achieve your goals.
  4. Sign up for a 5K that gives you enough time to train. Click here for a calendar of races in Oregon.
