How breast cancer affects fertility, pregnancy and breast-feeding

For women in their peak childbearing years, a breast cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatments can create fertility, pregnancy and breastfeeding challenges.
Breast cancer is rare among women in this age group. Fewer than 5 percent of breast cancers occur in women younger than 40, according to the nonprofit cancer advocacy group Susan G. Komen. But the childbearing repercussions can be significant.
