Autism Speaks grant recipient, Connor, with his Mom, Christa Lowe, enjoy Camp Splash and Play

Providence received an Autism Speaks grant this summer which provided funding for free swim lessons during Providence Camps for Kids' Camp Splash and Play in August. 12 children received free lessons through this generous support to families in our community. The following is an excerpt from a grateful parent, Christa Lowe, whose son, Conner, participated in the program "I hoped that by the end of the classes Connor would be able to put his face in the water and feel more comfortable and confident in it. This goal was achieved by the end of the first class! On the way to his second lesson Connor said he didn't want to take his snorkel mask because he said 'I want to conquer my fear!' The confidence these lessons have given Connor as he watches himself finally succeed in something extend way beyond swimming. Thank you so much for this gift."
