Providence ElderPlace announces new medical director

Dr. Maureen Nash, M.D., has joined Providence ElderPlace Oregon as medical director as of June 2, 2014. Dr. Nash is board certified in both psychiatry and internal medicine. Most recently, she served as medical director of the Tuality Center for Geriatric Psychiatry, a dedicated acute inpatient geriatric psychiatry unit in Forest Grove, Ore. She is the Chair of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry’s Clinical Practice Committee and serves on the AAGP Board of Directors. She has clinical appointments at Oregon Health & Science University Psychiatry Department and Pacific University Physician Assistant Program.
Committed to improving the quality of life of older adults, Dr. Nash has served on a number of workgroups for the Oregon legislature on issues involving older adults, dementia and mental illness. She is a sought after public speaker on topics for both geriatrics and psychiatry, and has served on the State Plan for Alzheimer’s Disease in Oregon Task Force leading the medical/research subcommittee.
Dr. Nash earned her medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She went on to complete her residency at the combined internal medicine/psychiatry residency program at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire. Prior to her medical career, she was a computer engineer specializing in hardware and software integration in a research setting.
