She completed her residency at Family Medicine Residency of Idaho, University of Washington Rural Training Track in Boise, Idaho. Dr. Cushing is board certified in family medicine with an expanded medicine scope including: inpatient medicine, urgent care, addiction medicine and women's health. Cushing's other areas of specialty care are cross-cultural medicine, obesity and diabetes prevention and management. Dr. Cushing is also proficient in Spanish.

"Providence Seaside Hospital began the hospitalist program in 2008 and has found this to be a key component in caring for our hospital patients, said Michael Blauer, chief executive at Providence Seaside Hospital. "Consistent with our Mission to provide access to medical care, the hospitalists are able to provide specialized care for our patients, at the time when they are most vulnerable."

Studies conclude that hospitalist-attended patients have better medical outcomes, lower costs and shorter lengths of stay in the hospital. Not only do hospitalists offer the patient on-site access to a physician, but hospitalists are familiar with key departments and individuals within the hospital, allowing for prompt connections with other health care personnel.

Providence Seaside Hospital is located at 725 S. Wahanna Road, Seaside, Ore. For information, please call 503-717-7000.
