Providence Hospitals Earn Gold Certification For Excellence In Hip And Knee Replacement Surgeries
December 30, 2013
Following a visit this month, The Joint Commission granted disease-specific certification for total hip replacement and total knee replacement surgeries at both Providence Portland Medical Center and Providence St. Vincent Medical Center.
Surveyors said they were impressed with the teams’ passion and commitment to offering the best care possible. “This accomplishment could only happen because our teams are all working in partnership with each other and physicians, focusing on our patient’s needs and expectations, and, individually bringing their special skills and talents to work each day,” said Tom Lorish, M.D., medical director, Providence Orthopedic Institute. “Our people have been instrumental in answering the call to create healthier communities, deliver excellent care and help make care affordable for all.”
Providence Orthopedic Institute performs more than 12,000 surgeries in Oregon every year. Patient outcomes are consistently top-ranked for improved mobility and reduced pain.
The Joint Commission’s certification process is designed to help health care organizations provide safe, high-quality care and treatment to their patients. Health care professionals use the certification process to learn about opportunities for improvement and showcase best practices.
