Who should be screened for lung cancer?

November 20, 2013

November is lung cancer awareness month. Lung cancer is the number one cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. As with colonoscopies and mammograms, regular lung cancer screenings could lower the overall death rate from cancer by helping to detect the disease at an earlier, more treatable stage. Now annual lung cancer screenings, recommended by the federal government and supported by many insurance plans, are available for people who meet the risk criteria.
