Residency program now delivering babies at PPMC

June 28, 2013

Providence Portland Medical Center has some new faces on the maternity unit. Twenty-one medical residents and seven faculty members from Providence Oregon Family Practice Residency now are delivering babies at Providence Portland. Previously, they delivered babies at Providence Milwaukie Hospital, which recently stopped offering those services on its campus.

The residents primarily will work with patients from Providence Medical Group-Southeast and Providence Medical Group-Milwaukie, who will deliver their babies at Providence Portland. Additionally, residents may serve patients who have private physician or midwife providers and those who don’t have providers.

Each of the physician residents have had obstetrical experience while in medical school. The faculty members, who are all trained in obstetrics, also are part of the program and will be accompanying the residents on the maternity unit.
